Knitting Gauge Calculator

Put in the pattern gauge and your swatch gauge. We'll compute adjusted stitch and row counts for a target size, plus simple suggestions (needle up/down, yarn weight).

Results

Enter pattern gauge, your gauge, and a target size.

How it works

We convert gauges to the same scale (per inch or per 10 cm). Then:

  • Cast‑on = your_sts_per_in × target_width
  • Rows = your_rows_per_in × target_length
  • We suggest needle up/down if your gauge is tighter/looser than the pattern, and nudge toward a different yarn weight if the difference is big.

Tip: Always knit a gauge swatch! Measure after blocking for most accurate results.
